About T
AT&T is a U.S. wireless and fibre broadband provider. It exited media by spinning off WarnerMedia in 2022 and roughly halved its dividend at that time; the payout has been held flat since. It pays quarterly and has been directing free cash flow toward fibre expansion and debt reduction.

How this calculator works
Shares bought is investment ÷ price. The dividend per share per payment is
price × yield ÷ 100 ÷ payments per year (4 for T). For every payment the
calculator pays shares × dividend per share; with DRIP on it buys
payment ÷ current price more shares, and any annual contribution is split evenly across
the year's payments and also buys shares. The growth assumptions are converted to a per-payment rate so
that they compound to the annual figure you enter. Break-even is the first month at which the
dividends received so far reach 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the capital contributed to that point,
simulated out to 50 years. Yield on cost is the year's dividends divided by total capital contributed.
FAQ
- How much does T pay per share?
- As of 15 September 2026 the reference figures from StockAnalysis were a 4.15% trailing-twelve-month yield at a share price of $26.72, which works out to about $1.11 per share a year, paid quarterly (roughly $0.28 per quarter). The board sets each dividend, so check the issuer's latest declaration before relying on it.
- How many T shares would it take to earn $1,000 a month?
- At the reference yield of 4.15% you would need about 10,822 shares, roughly $289,157 at $26.72 a share, to receive $12,000 a year. Set the initial investment to that amount in the calculator to see the projection. A higher yield needs fewer shares; a lower yield needs more.
- What does the DRIP toggle change?
- With DRIP on, each dividend buys more T shares at the then-current price, so the next payment is slightly larger; the projection compounds 4 times a year. With DRIP off the dividends are counted as cash income and the share count only changes through your annual contributions.
- Is the T yield in the calculator the forward or trailing yield?
- The prefilled figure is the trailing-twelve-month yield reported by StockAnalysis: the last twelve months of dividends divided by the price on 15 September 2026. If AT&T Inc. has announced a dividend change since then, the forward yield will differ; replace the yield with (latest quarterly dividend × 4) ÷ price to use the forward figure.
