Funding Rate Calculator

What holding a perpetual position costs, or earns, in funding. Positive funding means longs pay shorts; negative means shorts pay longs.

How it works

Each funding event moves notional × rate between longs and shorts. Per day that is × (24 ÷ interval hours), and over the holding period × days. The annualised figure is rate × intervals per day × 365, simple (not compounded) and assuming the rate does not change. A positive rate is paid by longs and received by shorts; a negative rate is the reverse.

FAQ

Who pays funding?
When the funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts; when it is negative, shorts pay longs. The payment happens at each funding interval between traders, not to the exchange, and only if you hold the position through the funding timestamp.
Is funding charged on margin or on notional?
On the full position notional (size × mark price), not on the margin you posted. At 10x leverage the funding you pay is 10x larger relative to your margin, which is why it matters for leveraged positions held for days.
What does the annualised figure mean?
The per-interval rate multiplied by the number of intervals in a year, assuming the rate stays constant. Rates change every interval, so it is a way to compare the current cost with a borrow rate, not a forecast.

Not financial advice. Funding rates change every interval; this projects the rate you enter, nothing more.
